| Despite the long-term availability of an effective screening tool and steep declines, age-adjusted invasive cervical cancer incidence rates have leveled off particularly for those ages 44-64. Dr. Kosary presented data ecologically linking county level median family income, educational attainment and age to county level cervical cancer mortality and also found that, above and beyond age and stage of diagnosis, patients living in counties where a lower percentage of the population had completed high school were more likely to die after their diagnosis of cervical cancer. |
