Dr. Robin Yabroff of the Lombardi Cancer Center used American Hospital Association data that are linked to county census data and mortality data by hospital to examine the various characteristics of American College of Surgeons (ACoS) and non-ACoS hospitals. Non-ACoS hospitals are less likely to have oncology, radiation and mammography services and are more likely to be in high cervical cancer mortality counties. Dr. Yabroff also concluded that counties without hospitals are more likely to be in high cervical cancer mortality counties.
